iPod Headphones
If you're one of the millions of people who have invested in an Ipod you know how easy they have made it to enjoy both music and movies while you're on the move. You can store your entire music collection, plus films and TV shows on one tiny little unit about the same size as a packet of cigarettes. Most people would have to agree it's an incredible piece of modern technology and you don't have to walk too far around your local town before you see the familiar white headphone cables hanging down from someone's ears. But herein lies the only real 'downside' to the Ipod. The headphones. The ones that come supplied with the unit are cheap, flimsy, easily broken and don't sound particularly great. They are tinny, they let a huge amount of noise escape (meaning you have to have them turned up loud, thus causing disruption to people sat near to you) and just don't do your music justice. If you're going to spend the money on something like an Ipod, you should at least be able to enjoy it at it's full potential.
So the first thing you should do when you get one is consider some decent alternatives to the ones supplied with the Ipod. The main points to consider are sound quality, style and price. The ones supplied with an Ipod are in-ear headphones, basically small ear buds that slot into your ears. A common complaint of the ones supplied with the Ipod is that they are uncomfortable, so it's worth making sure that whatever you buy will sit in your ears comfortably. Sony produce some excellent in ear headphones that come with interchangeable ear buds in 3 sizes, allowing you to find a setup that will suit your ears perfectly and cause you minimal discomfort. The other great thing about these kind of in ear phones is they normally have a much better bass response than the ones supplied with the Ipod, producing a far richer and more convincing sound. As with any decent phones, the more you spend the better you will get, but if you can budget around $50 you should be able to pick up a decent pair that will last a long time.
